Innocent

It's not unusual to hear "Jambo Innocent!" at the dining facility on Sather Airbase outside Baghdad. American personnel seem to relish the chance to greet the Ugandan guards in Swahili. Innocent works in Iraq for an American security company that prefers retired Ugandan soldiers to Americans because they are well trained and work for cheap. They do 'interior security' which means guarding both sensitive and high traffic areas inside the base. Because the dining facility has the highest concentration of personnel of any structure on the base, security is extra tight there. Innocent and his team guard the entrance and exit and they check the chambers of every weapon carried inside to prevent accidental discharges. He plans to start a business in Uganda with his savings from working in Iraq.
